2009 Here We Come!

I love New Year's.
It's so full of potential.... a crisp, fresh start. People all around make resolutions or write out their goals for the next 12 months.
Ok, so most resolutions are long forgotten by Valentine's Day, but it's still a whole lot of positive energy going around.
Honestly, I've been struggling lately. To those around me it's no secret. Papa K and my close friends have been so very supportive, but it doesn't take away all the hurt.
I have no elaborate New Year's goals this year. Instead, I am praying for extra faith, strength, some direction and mostly a little HOPE. I'm going to make a real effort to focus on some areas in my life that I actually have some control over... like taking better care of myself, my family and my home. "Simplify" is my new mantra.
Here's to new beginnings!

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to
change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next. Amen. --Reinhold Nieb

New Year New Blog

Hey peeps!

No, you are not in the wrong place. After 3+ years of blogging and over 750 posts, I've decided to start over on this blogging thing. I've locked up all my old content but if there is anything you are looking for, please let me know.

Why, pray tell, would I do this? Well, for one W (aka Peanut) is getting older and I think maybe it's not so cool to be posting his face and his story all over the web in such a public way. I have Facebook and Shutterfly and more private places like that to keep all the friends and family in pictures. Not to say that I'll never post another pic of him, but I'm just more mindful of it now.

Also, at some point I lost my direction. This blog was getting too random for me. The most successful, and IMO the most interesting, blogs focus on some basic theme or purpose. So I thought it would be fun to try and keep this blog to my main interests: thrift, crafts, healthy living and basic homemaking.

It's a little intimidating to be basically starting over from scratch. On the other hand, it's kinda liberating because I have a fresh start to make this blog everything I want it to be.
